Michelle Tucker
Founder

I founded Families Thriving Together because I am passionate about normalising parenting support and reducing the stigmas attached to attending parenting programmes (we ALL need support!) ~
I aim to boost the health, wellbeing and confidence of families by nurturing and supporting those that are parenting and encouraging peer-to-peer support so that they can continue to help each other.
I value inclusivity and believe there should be little barriers to attending support and this includes financial barriers. I always empathise and remind myself how difficult it can be to get support, so making each and every attendee feel comfortable is my goal…if you feel comfortable and safe, you will return and continue to learn.
I feel honoured and grateful to be able to deliver amazing, nurturing, life-changing and real-life parenting programmes to anyone that is parenting.

Alison Benincasa
Chair

Alison is our Chair of Trustees. Alison worked in the NHS for 41 years in various roles including ward sister, health visitor, child safeguarding lead, senior management positions and patient safety and compliance. She brings a wealth of experience in governance and works with the team of Trustees to ensure the charity is governed safely and in line with regulations.
When her 3 children were younger Alison was active as a parent governor and chair of governors for a local primary school and remains passionate about ensuring the right support is in place for children and families when needed.

Donna Brazier
Trustee

My name is Donna Brazier. I am an outreach worker who works with families to support them to achieve a strong family unit and build on their parenting skills. I am also a parent to two teenagers, so I fully understand the challenges of parenting.
As a parenting puzzle facilitator, I have seen so many parents learn and grow on their parenting skills and most importantly in a non-judgemental space. I am honoured to be a trustee of families thriving together, so families have easy access to our range of parenting.

Thelma Lewis
Trustee

My name is Thelma Lewis, and I am honored to be a Trustee for Families Thriving Together. As a retired Head Teacher with 43 years in education across both Secondary and Primary phases, I currently serve on the governing body of a Surrey Primary School.
In my career, I was privileged to be the long-standing Head Teacher of a local Primary School, central to its community. The school’s success was built on a strong home-school partnership. I believe children learn best when they feel capable, self-motivated, and supported by families, carers, peers, and teachers. Home life significantly impacts school performance.
During my headship,
I saw many parents benefit from Parenting Programmes, gaining confidence and skills to support their children. This raised parental aspirations and improved children’s learning outcomes. I believe Families Thriving Together empowers parents to enhance their children’s life chances.

Ruby Sharkie
Social Media & Marketing Manager

Hi! I’m Ruby, and I manage Social Media here at Families Thriving Together alongside Anisha!
I joined the team because I really believe in supporting parents and breaking down the stigma that can come with asking for help. What drew me to this charity is its focus on creating a safe, professional, and free space for parents to reach out and feel heard.
I’m passionate about building community and making sure every family feels supported I’m proud to be part of something that’s truly making a difference, and I look forward to sharing stories, resources, and real moments on our socials.

John Haagensen
Trustee

My name is John, and I’m thrilled to join the team as a trustee of Families Thriving Together. The charity is an incredible organization dedicated to providing inclusive, barrier-free parenting support for all parents.
I truly believe in its transformative power for parents and kids alike. Supporting families in this way creates ripples of positivity that extend far beyond the home.
I’m especially excited to dive into the charity’s fundraising activities, including playing a key role in the London TCS Marathon program over the coming years. It’s an honor to be part of such meaningful work, and I can’t wait to help Families Thriving Together continue making a difference.

Ruth Brian
Trustee (Marketing & Events Coordinator)

My name is Ruth and I am delighted to be a Trustee for Families Thriving Together. I am not a parent myself but strongly believe that everyone at some stage of their own parenting journey may need or want support and may not know how to ask for it or where to go. When you become a parent, there isn’t a manual that gives you all the answers, it’s an often-steep learning curve. Many of my friends are at different stages of their parenting journey, so I have seen the challenges they face.
I first heard about the charity through a friend and was immediately drawn to what they stand for. Offering inclusive access to parenting support for everyone, no judgements, no barriers, just valuable, reliable and relatable programmes for all parents.
I am excited to coordinate the charity’s events, which I hope will bring in much needed funds to reach more parents with our programs and help their families to grow.
I am both proud and honoured to be part of something that I know can make a difference to so many families, helping them to feel supported, connected and ultimately that they are not alone.

Rachel Wright
Trustee

I’m Rachel Wright and I’m so excited to have become a Trustee for Families Thriving Together. I worked for nearly 15 years in the Not for Profit sector as an HR professional before making a career change after the birth of my second daughter.
Since then, I’ve worked as a Career and Maternity Coach, supporting people through career and life transitions, including maternity leave, returning to work and making career changes.
I first discovered this brilliant charity when I attended the Talking Teens programme. I was finding it tough being a parent to two teenage daughters and found the support incredibly helpful, practical, supportive and non-judgemental.
When the opportunity came up to run the London Marathon and raise money for Families Thriving Together, I knew it was something I really wanted to do. It was an incredible experience and afterwards I knew I didn’t want my involvement with the charity to stop there. I really believe in the work FTT does and the difference it can make to parents and families.
Becoming a Trustee felt like a natural next step. I’m looking forward to supporting the charity with fundraising, sharing my skills and experience, and helping in any way I can so that even more parents and families can access its support.
