Run for Charity with Families Thriving Together

Looking for a charity to run for? Whether it’s your first 5K, a charity 10K, a half marathon or the
London Marathon, you can turn your next race into real support for families.

Families Thriving Together is a registered charity (no. 1199406) delivering free, evidence-based
parenting programmes across the South East. Since 2024, more than 950 parents have been
referred to us by schools, children’s services and other partners. We never charge families, so
every pound our runners raise helps keep those programmes going.

Charity places for the London Marathon

We have charity places for the London Marathon over the coming years, and we’d love to hear from runners who want to take one on. Our 5K, 10K and half marathon events are a great way to build towards it. Many of our runners start with a shorter race, get a feel for fundraising, then step up to the full 26.2 miles.

If you’re interested in a London Marathon charity place, get in touch with us at john.haagensen@familiesthrivingtogether.org.uk.

How to sign up for a charity run

We’ve partnered with Run for Charity, the UK’s leading charity running website, so finding a race and fundraising for us is simple.

  • Visit our page on Run for Charity and search for a race near you. You can filter by distance, date, region or postcode.
  • Click “Register Interest” to let us know you’d like to run for Families Thriving Together.
  • Set up your fundraising page through our JustGiving page and share it with friends, family and colleagues.
  • Train, run and enjoy it. We’ll be cheering you on and would love to share your story.

Fundraising ideas and training support

Not sure how to reach your target? Run for Charity has hundreds of fundraising ideas, from quiz nights to creative challenges, that fit easily around everyday life. New to running? They also offer free training plans, nutrition tips and pacing charts to get you from the sofa to the start line.

What your charity run makes possible

A four-week parenting programme costs £2,822 to deliver for a whole group of parents. Our
ten-week Nurturing Programme costs £7,086 per group. After completing it, the proportion of
parents who felt confident showing empathy rose from 25% to 88%.

As one parent told us: “This course has changed our lives. Our home life is so much happier
now.”
